When I talk about getting things done as efficiently as possible, I often like to use the phrase, “Work smarter, not harder.” As a Teacherpreneur who balances teaching young people to read, write and make sense of the world while also pursuing my side hustle, advice like this is the backbone of my success in both areas. But another phrase that I use in my everyday hustle is, “Don’t go big, go focus.”

This is advice that anyone who’s looking to get stuff done should take into account. Whether you’re an educator, entrepreneur or student (or maybe all three!) allow me to show you how I “Go Focus” to get done what needs to be done.

What Does it Mean to Go Focus?

So what do I mean by, “Don’t go big, go focus?”

Whatever you’re pursuing, whether that be a business endeavor, one or multiple side hustles, work, and school, or any other work-life balance, it can be difficult to find the time to get everything done. For a lot of people, they think that the way to get everything done is to “go big.” Going big could mean an overloaded to-do list, working late hours, or putting in long hours to achieve what you need to achieve. And while it’s great to go big and put in the work to achieve your goals, without the focus component of it, it’s not sustainable in the long run. Take it from someone who’s made that mistake.
